Seller's Description: • Please note someone has stolen my first few photos and partial description of this Winchester and is attempting to sell it on GunBroker right now. If you know how to contact any of those bidders, please let them know and continue to be on the lookout for other similar rip-offs. Thanks to those Auction Arms bidders who contacted me about this. ***** I am happy to say the other auction has now been ended. I have no details and can only assume GB took it off line. Hopefully, they can do something about the seller. • This is a near mint original US M1 Carbine made by Winchester in 1944. This is not an arsenal re-done carbine as is so common. This rifle that made it thorough WWII without being issued to a combat unit and remained in near mint condition. Yes, it was fired but appears to have been very well cared for and then immediately placed in a rack. • The wood shows only minor dents and dings and has the original oil finish and has not been refinished. The fore-end is the correct flat-bottom Winchester type. The markings are nice and clear with no sanding or “tinkering”. As you can see, the wood happens to have a very attractive grain, especially at the butt. Note the very small “W” proof in the sling channel and the Winchester ordnance wheel which are correct for this year Winchester M1 Carbine. There are no cracks to the stock or handguard. The handguard is the correct type with 4 rivets and a small “W” proof as shown in the close up photos. • All of the metal parts that should be marked with a Winchester component proof are so marked. See photos. All of the components are the correct type. As an example, the band is the correct type for the 1944 Winchester, etc. See photos. The magazine is an Underwood contract with a single “U”. This is the one that came in the rifle and I have left it as I found it. • The wear patterns, proofs and finish are as issued and correct. • There is a minor amount of blue wear to the blued bolt and a touch of wear to the high-edges on the Parkerized parts. Many feel it is fine to “up-grade” or “restore” a US military rifle with original parts. I could have easily found a mint Winchester bolt and slipped it in. However, I purchased the rifle as it is and have left it 100% un-touched. Of course, if you wish to put a mint bolt in, go right ahead. • The 1944 production Winchester M1 carbine of this serial range was issued with the adjustable sight. The rifle is obviously the same one I own and am selling here on GB. The photos and description are exactly the same. A:  Hello. Thank you for asking. Yes, I am aware of that auction from an earlier email from another Auction Arms user-take a look at it right above this message. There is a fraud underway with the listing on GunBroker. That seller is trying to rip someone off by using my first few photos and the first part of my description to sell a firearm he does not own. I have contacted GunBroker and hopefully they will end that auction and kick the seller off. That listing is a one day auction and GB may not be working on the weekends. If you know a way to contact bidders on that one, please let them know. I tried but couldn't figure out how to do it. We all need to be aware of these kinds of frauds. Please let legitimate sellers know right away in case you find the same thing happening in the future on another firearm.
