Description

Seller's Description:
U.S. Military WWII Winchester Model 97 Riot Gun in Good Condition. Left Side of Receiver, At Rear, is Marked: "U.S." Followed by the Ordnance Department's: "Flaming Bomb". The Receiver on the Front, Left Side, is Also Marked: "30" in Front of a Exterior "Mar" (Perhaps, the M97 Riot Gun was "Dropped" At Some Time in the Past; Without the "Mar" It Would Have a Higher Starting Price); which indicates that, Subsequent to WWII, It was Utilized by a Law Enforcement Agency. The Ordnance Department's: "Flaming Bomb" is also on the Breech End of the Barrel in Front of the Winchester Proofmark. The Correct 20 1/2" Barrel is Marked: "CYL" (Cylinder) and is Dated: "42" (Year of Manufacture) On Its Underside, Breech End. "Mirror" Barrel Bore. Action/Mechancially is "As New" and has been Completely "Checked-Out" and "Test-Fired" By My Very Competent M97 Gunsmith (He Said: "While this Riot Gun Certainly Saw Heavy Use, I Replaced All Worn Parts with Original Factory Parts and It is Now In Excellent Working Order".). While "Tight-As-New", the Action Works Great! The Metal of this Riot Gun was Refinished At Some Time in the Past as Evidenced By Considerable Pitting, Dings and scrapes (Under the Bluing) on the Receiver, Receiver Extension and Magazine Tube. This M97 Riot Gun has a Round Punch Mark Above the Serial Number on Both the Receiver and the Receiver Extension, which Many U.S. Military Shotgun "Guru's" Maintain that It Indicates that It was Refurbished At the Winchester Factory. There is Some Slight Wear to the Bluing on the Rear, Bottom, of the Action Slide. The Wood Set is Excellent; there are No Cracks or Dings (Only Very Slight Handling Marks). The Wood Set has Virtually All of Its Apparently Original Varnish. The Left Side of the Butt Stock, Near the Center, is Well Marked with a Boxed: "G.H.D." Over the Ordnance Department's: "Wheel With Crossed Cannons" Cartouche. The Apparently Original Butt Plate is In "About Excellent" Condition with Only One Very Small, Insignificant "Mar" On Its Top, Left Side. According to the Popular U.S. Military Shotgun Reference Books, WWII M97 Riot Guns are About Seven Times Rarer than the WWII M97 Trench Guns. Serial Number is 93799X. A Signed Purchasing Copy FFL (C&R OK) is Required to Purchase this WWII U.S. Military M97 Riot Gun. U.S.P.S. Priority Mail Shipping and Insurance is $20. Check my Feedback; I have a sound, solid reputation. NEVER A RESERVE. I offer a 3-day inspection and funds back, less shipping and insurance, if not satisfied. Please Email me for a Complete Photo Album (12 photos) of this U.S. Military WWII M97 Riot Gun, or with any further ?s.
