Seller's Description:
Here you go. 1943 GHD proofed Colt 1911A1 with 94% original finish and matching
frame and slide numbers as you'll see in the pictures. The pix speak for them
selves. The front gripstrap has some wear to it, but it's still fairly stong.
The left side of the slide has some wear from improper storage or holster wear
at about the mid point but the finish is more thin than gone. Typical muzzle wear that's not too harsh. This is a good
solid original '43 GHD proofed gun that is a great collector's piece and a good
one to get started on if you are new to collecting the wartime .45's. After rereading the remarks, I thought I would mention that the barrel is marked Colt .45 Auto and F under the chamber area. Looks like the original barrel to the gun since the mating areas on the breech face and the chamber hood match.
Any questions, email me and I'll be glad to answer. The MSH is checkered and
the grip safety has all finish remaining. I forgot to take pix of that area. If you need pix of these, let me know and I'll add them or send them.
Shipping and insurance are extra and the gun must go to an FFL or C+R. No
foreign sales. Certified check or US Postal Money Order preferred. Personal checks held till cleared. No PayPal or Western Union.
01/17/05 I just got off the phone with Clawson about the trigger in this gun and have come to the conclusion that the trigger is a later trigger for some reason and should be milled vice stamped. I can't find anything else on the gun that doesn't appear to be original equipment. Don't know why it would've been switched at some time. Anyone that has placed a bid on the gun already is free to drop out of the bidding, no questions asked.
01/21/05 There seems to be some questions arising about the originality of the finish in the Ordnance acceptance mark on the right rear of the frame as possibly parked over. It is not parked over and shows white metal in the stamp. I obviously didn't get the lighting right for that particular area. If you'll notice the GHD and the feedramp, both of those areas are either in the white or burnished and I think I caught those pretty well. I'm not a professional photographer! The other question that has arisen is about the barrel being a Flannery Bolt company barrel and not appropriate for a Colt. I would agree with that statement however the in the description, just to reiterate, I've indicated that the barrel is marked Colt .45 Auto (and is marked as such on the right lower chamber area) and the F is under the chamber area. That is a Colt barrel. A Flannery F would be on the right lug not on the underside of the chamber area. I'll see if I can add a composite pic of the areas in question. There's only one available slot left for pics.
Thanks for looking.
