Stonesfirearms--- We have our local sheriffs office run the serial # on every used gun, even the ones we buy on AA. The problem is if they discover it is stolen they confiscate it. I would rather lose a gun now and then than sell a stolen gun to a customer. Have had one on AA and two on GB. In every case seller reimbursed me. Tks

Just a word of advise: Serial numbers on some military rifles can get you in trouble. think about it. Listed as stolen: German K98 mauser serial # 999a. Problem is there will be a byf, dou, ar, bsw, ce, bnz, bcd, 243,660 and other manufactured K98's that will all have the same serial number. Same with lugers and P38's. They are not always listed with the police with the manufacturer stated, just German K98 or luger, or P38. Not impossible, I've has 2 different manufacturer's K98's in the shop at one time with the same serial #.

I had a luger I bought come back stolen. It still had the bringback papers hanging on it with the guys name on it. The guy that sold it to me had the same last name. I had to explain to the investigating detective that the guns were made in more than one factory and the seriel number alone was not enough info. I began asking them tough questions like what factory was the stolen gun built in? What was it's year of manufacture? What accesories were with the gun? They ended up calling the owner of the reported stolen firearm and it turned out the numbers were the same but not the same pistol. I also made sure they knew it was a very valuble piece and offered them a rug to store it in so it wouldn't get scratched up. I bought them before knowing they were stolen,, then had the punk arrested and he's still in the cooler ;)
